energy healing
"A healer does not heal you.
A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer
so that you may heal yourself"

REIKI
Reiki, as taught by it's founder Dr Mikao Usui, is a non religious energy healing method using the hands in a series of positions on the body promoting healing, allowing the body to relax and balance itself on a very deep level. It was rediscovered in the early C20th. The word 'Reiki' translates from Japanese to “Universal Life Force Energy”. “Rei” means universal energy, “Ki” means life force energy.
This ‘life force energy’ is the vibration of energy that surrounds all life. Throughout history it has been known as Ki in Japan, Chi in China, Prana in India and many other names in other cultures. The Chinese belief is that this life force nourishes and energises the body and that this is vital to our well being. When our energy is blocked or imbalanced, it has a major impact on our health. It is understood that where there is dis-ease in the body, then there is a disruption to the energy in the body. Reiki works when the correct frequency of energy is channeled into the body thereby removing the blockage and re-balancing the energy - removing the problem and the physical symptoms.
Reiki is simple, natural and a safe method of spiritual healing. It helps the body to correct any imbalance by working in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects of illness and promote recovery. Many Eastern practices work to balance the flow of energy within the body to prevent illness and dis-ease taking hold including acupuncture, shiatsu, yoga, tai chi, meditation, most martial arts and reflexology. Receiving Reiki is a wonderfully calming and perspective bringing experience. During a treatment session, the client is fully clothed and conscious whilst the Reiki practitioner places their hands on specific areas of the body. It is painless, non-invasive and non-manipulative and it does not interfere with any medical treatment that the client may be undertaking. The Client can often have quite amazing and very personal experiences during a healing.
One of the basic ideas held by those who practice reiki is that this vital energy can be used to support the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Studies suggest that Reiki may play some role in reducing anxiety and pain, inducing relaxation, improving fatigue and helping relieve the symptoms of depression. The disruption to the flow of energy can be triggered by a poor diet, poor breathing, lack of exercise, bad posture, ongoing niggling aches and pains and other stresses to the body both physically and psychologically – stress, tiredness, emotional upheaval. Reiki helps to restore the energy levels and to release those things we no longer need thereby helping the body to restore itself to its normal energy levels.
Reiki and other forms of energy healing are not a substitute for medical advice but can be used in conjunction with modern medical treatments to assist the healing process. The success of the session is not only dependent on the life force energy but also on you, the Client, being willing and open to allow the energy to flow to you.
